Kathryn J. (Kruluts) Remaly A resident of McCandless and formerly the Northside of Pittsburgh died on December 12, 2016. Kay (or Honey or Teta Kay as she was known to family and friends) was born August 2, 1919 in the Bower Hill section of Scott Township to Matthew T. and Barbara Kruluts. A retired homemaker Kay was a spirited and active woman who drove well into her eighties. Kay loved to travel whether by car, plane or bus with Barbaras Tours. Two of her favorite destinations were Hawaii and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Kay also loved to visit just about any casino and played the slots. Being full Croatian Kay was very proud of her heritage. She was a lifelong member of the former St Nicholas Church on East Ohio Street and also the Croatian Fraternal Union and Javor National Hall. She very much enjoyed polka music and dancing and traveled to many festivals and events, especially those featuring a performance by her favorite band, The Dick Tady Orchestra. Kay is survived by her son, Matthew T. Remaly and her sister Helen "Toots" Powell. Kay was preceded in death by her granddog basset hounds Biscuit and Katey; her ex-husband Robert P. Remaly Sr and her step-children Robert P. Jr and Elizabeth I. Remaly. Kay also lost her siblings, Anna, Nicholas, Michael, Andrew, Mary, Frank "Longy", Joseph "Buck", Matthew, John and Emil "Ace". Kay’s final resting place will be the mausoleum at Christ the Redeemer cemetery in Ross Twp. In her memory Kay would request that you have a beer, play the slots and dance a polka.
