Obituary for Marlene (Ward) Frey

Marlene Frey, 80, of Franklin Park, died on December 27, 2017 at home surrounded by her family and faithful dog, Tucker. Wife of the late G. Howard Frey; mother of Lisa (Greg) Blanck and Christopher Frey; grandmother of Nicholas and Allyson Blanck; sister of Joseph “Jerry” Ward and the late Robert Ward.
Raised in rural Pennsylvania on a farm, youngest of three children. Marlene graduated from Seton Hill College, class of 1960, BA in Childhood Education. She taught kindergarten thru 8th grade, during a career in public and catholic schools.
A loving attentive wife to G. Howard, and generous mother to Lisa and Christopher, family was a priority for Marlene.
Marlene was a renaissance woman, who loved to learn new things, entertain and enjoy friends and family.
Marlene’s travels included Hawaiian and Caribbean beaches, tours of Europe and of the entire USA. Learned to golf later in life, and spent many recent summers on the fairway. St. Mary’s Church, volunteer work, Mahjongg Club and basket weaving kept her busy during winter golf breaks. Her lifetime total of completed baskets is over 100 and all that own them consider them a cherished item.
A kind and generous person, she loved to share her time and resources. She will be missed by the many whose lives she touched.
