Why do we have funerals?
Many people often ask this question. With the fast- paced and portable society it seems to many that a funeral may just get in the way. Furthermore, a funeral forces us to deal with emotions and pain that we would just rather avoid. What we realize, though, is that taking the time to engage in the funeral ritual provides us with a better sense of self and forces us to take inventory of our lives and perhaps make difficult life affirming changes. It also allows us to remember and to say goodbye to a life in which we were engaged. A funeral and the accompanying mourning is just another sign of the love we share for each other and a necessary step to help facilitate grief.
What is the difference between cremation and traditional funerals?
Cremation is a final form of disposition, like earth burial or entombment. More and more people are choosing cremation as a final form of disposition for many reasons. Some feel it is more environmentally friendly, others choose it for the cost savings of not needing to pay for cemetery expenses. Whatever the reason, a cremation funeral can be just as traditional or different of a service as you like. Actually, most of the families who choose cremation with our firm have a funeral that includes a viewing, and service.

Is cremation a more economical choice?
Families that choose cremation as a final form of disposition can save on costs associated with the cemetery. Cemetery property, grave opening and closing fees, and perpetual care funds can cost thousands of dollars. Most families who choose cremation still have a creative and meaningful funeral they just choose not to spend the funds on the cemetery.

I would like to send flowers to a visitation at your firm can you help?
Yes, we work with many florists in the area and can help you in choosing a sympathy token that will fulfill the wishes of the family.

I am Catholic and the Church does not allow cremation.
Actually the church did forbid cremation until the 1960’s because it was tied to a pagan ritual. Changes were made in the Church doctrine allowing for the cremation of Catholics, but not allowing for the cremains to be brought to church for Mass. In 1997 that changed allowing for cremains to be present for a funeral mass. However, it is preferred that the full body be present in lieu of the cremains.
Is there really a difference between a family- owned firm and a corporate- owned funeral home?
Most definitely! As a family- owned firm we are responsible to the families that we serve. We do not have to worry about making investors happy with the bottom line and dividends, so there is no place for high- pressure sales tactics. We are based out of this community and have our roots here, and take pride in meeting your needs personally. We also care about the local economy, and this helps keep money in local communities. Furthermore, when you have a special request it does not need to climb the corporate ladder for approval- our family is able to make your request happen. We can accommodate your needs immediately.
How much will a funeral cost?
Just like purchasing any item in life, funeral costs can vary depending on what you choose. From the simple and basic, or the extravagant and lush a funeral’s cost really depends on what you want. A good place to start is with a General Price List. All funeral homes in the United States are required to have a General Price List and provide them to consumers when discussing prices. This allows you to work with a funeral director to better understand what the cost of the funeral service you choose will be.
I have preplanned my funeral with another firm and would like to transfer it. Can I?
Yes, we accept arrangements from other firms. Whether you planned a long time ago, or recently, you may transfer. If would like to use our funeral home, we can help handle all the aspects and planning. In many cases your funds can stay in place and you can simply name us as the new beneficiaries.
